Praia de Mucuripe
Location: Avenida Beira Mar
Mucuripe Beach is known for its picturesque rafts. As you stroll along the boardwalk, you’ll see a fleet of colorful sailboats, used by local fishermen. The sight of fishermen working together is a beautiful display of cooperation and teamwork. Mucuripe is also home to the Lighthouse Museum, which operated from 1846 to 1957. Praia do Futuro is the most popular beach for swimming in Fortaleza, free from the pollution concerns that affect other urban beaches. The beach also offers live music, featuring jazz, blues, and traditional Brazilian music (MPB).
Praia do Futuro is lined with beach tents along Avenida Diogo Zeze, where you can enjoy forró band performances. Every Thursday night, the traditional Caranguejada, a feast featuring various crab dishes, is held. Stretching approximately 7 km, Praia do Futuro is also a favorite among surfers, thanks to its clear waters and strong waves.
